Our Vision

To be the best global online community supporting women veterans in their transition from military service.

Our Mission

We are a community of women veterans spanning all ages, services, ranks, experiences, and geographies woven together by a common desire to:

  • Connect for social support and camaraderie
  • Share information and resources
  • Serve our fellow veterans, their families and our local communities.

Our Values

Service, Love, Learning, Courage

"It is a belief in a power larger than myself and other than myself which allows me to venture into the unknown and even the unknowable"

--Maya Angelou, Famous Poet and Educator

How We Got Our Start

Celia Szelwach is a 1990 West Point graduate, former Army Captain and senior-rated paratrooper who served at Fort Bragg, NC from 1990-1995 during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm era.  She formed WOVEN in May 2007 after organizing a "Memorial Day Thank You to Women Veterans" event with the help of several women's service organizations in her local community of Bradenton, FL.  Celia's inspirations for WOVEN are AcademyWomen Founder, Susan Feland (a '93 graduate of the Air Force Academy), Army SGT Michelle Saunders (an OIF combat veteran & Bronze Star recipient), and the VA Advisory Committee on Women Veterans.
