If you are a veteran or family member looking for information about VA Health & Benefits eligibility and entitlements, we recommend the following:
1. Keep a copy of your DD214 or discharge paperwork confirming your discharge status and service time. If you need another copy of your DD214 or military service records, contact the National Archives by following this link http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/ .
2. Contact your local county Veteran's Service Officer (VSO) to complete the required documents and processing. While the VSO's are employed by county government, they are typically veterans and experts in navigating the VA system. They will also be knowledgeable about any state or county level benefits.
